Just thought I'd update now that the first date for the course has been and gone, rather successfully, I might add.
On the 5th of June (last Thursday) the first "Health and Safety for Managers and Key Personnel" class was held.
I myself am not a manager, however I found the class was not to difficult to understand and full of useful information. The course contains information about current important legislation that many do not know fully about. This includes everyone's role as duty holders in the workplace.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Course Aims include:
-Helping you understand your responsibilities in working safely at height.
-Empowering you with working at height issues.
-Helping you manage safety more effectively.
-Contributing towards the overall safety of your organization.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the many insights in the course is the truth about the fabled "2 meter rule". Many people actually believe that so long as the job's under 2 meters, it's not considered working at height...this is not the case however. About 2/3 of all major injuries occur below 2 meters. Bear in mind that falls from height are the most common cause of fatal injuries and we can see that there's a serious need for proper training.
